Callaway’s newRAZR FX iron/hybrid set come with a big price

Callaway's new RAZR FX iron and hybrid

Callaway Golf’s new RAZR XF iron/hybrid set will be available beginning Oct. 14 for the curiously large price of $1,299 (steel) and $1,399 (graphite). Those prices mean the sets will sell in stores for around $1,000 and $1,100, respectively – big bucks for any iron set but especially for a set that includes six irons and two hybrids.

Callaway calls the RAZR FX its most “technologically advanced” iron in its line. The RAZR XF is constructed with a forged 1025 Carbon Steel body the company says provides soft, responsive feedback at impact. The face is made of a thin, high-strength 455 Carpenter Steel, which Callaway says generates “faster ball speeds” for increased distance.

Callaway says the RAZR XF hybrids feature a larger head design and added offset to deliver higher, longer, straighter shots. Built with what the company calls “Zero Roll Design,” Callaway says the clubface produces a higher launch angle on shots hit low on the face, which bolsters distance and provides softer landings.

The RAZR XF Hybrids also feature Callaway’s proprietary VFT Technology, which Callaway says precisely controls face thickness to create a larger sweet spot and higher ball speeds for even more distance.

It should feel like you are swinging smoother, which also gives you a better chance of hitting the ball on the sweet spot of the club and result in more distance.
